Post-GE15: ‘MPs Making a U-Turn? I Don’t Know, Wait for the Official Decision’ – Mohd Redzuan

KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof has stated that he is unaware of any Members of Parliament (MPs) who may have made a “U-turn” after signing statutory declarations (SDs) in support of Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be appointed as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister.

The Bersatu Supreme Council member advised all parties, especially the media, to wait for the official announcement expected later this afternoon.

“I don’t know whether there’s a U-turn or not. Just wait for the official results. Wait until 2 PM. Please, have something to eat first,” he quipped while distributing food and drinks to members of the media gathered outside Muhyiddin’s residence in Bukit Damansara.

He also denied having knowledge of any new statutory declarations from additional MPs pledging support for Muhyiddin. “That I’m not aware of. Whatever has already been announced by PN, that’s what we have for now. Just wait,” he said.

Redzuan was among the PN leaders seen arriving at Muhyiddin’s residence earlier in the day. Others present included PN Deputy Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, and Bersatu Deputy President Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

PN Claims Majority Support
Yesterday, Abdul Hadi stated that PN was awaiting an invitation from Istana Negara, and reiterated that the coalition had secured a majority of MP support to form the new federal government.
In a separate statement, Hamzah confirmed that the number of SDs submitted to the palace exceeded 112, the minimum required to form a government.

According to the 15th General Election (GE15) results, PN secured 73 parliamentary seats, including 22 seats won under the PAS logo, a coalition partner within PN.

As political negotiations continued in the aftermath of a hung parliament, questions arose about possible shifts in support among MPs, but PN leaders maintained that their numbers were sufficient to stake a claim to form the next government.
