“Tun M Tried to Oust Muhyiddin” – Mohd Redzuan Reveals in Bersatu Leadership Meeting

KUALA LUMPUR – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions), Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, revealed during a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Supreme Council (MPT) meeting last night that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had expressed his intention to topple Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

A Bersatu MPT member who spoke to Astro AWANI on condition of anonymity disclosed that Redzuan—also known by his nickname Pak Wan—told the meeting that he had been approached by Dr Mahathir but refused to be part of any effort to unseat the party president and Prime Minister.

“Pak Wan told us that he did meet with Tun. And Tun said they should do everything possible to bring down Muhyiddin,” said the MPT source.
“But Pak Wan said he couldn’t go along with it, as it was something deeply personal.”

Redzuan, who is also Member of Parliament for Alor Gajah, is said to have assured the council that he remains loyal to Muhyiddin as Bersatu’s leader and the Prime Minister.
Media Speculation on Press Conference Denied

Media outlets were alerted to a potential press conference at Redzuan’s residence today, but his political secretary Mohd Hafeez Mohd Yunus clarified that no decision had been made yet.
“If there are any updates, I will inform the media immediately,” he said in a WhatsApp media group.

On May 30, Mohd Redzuan had confirmed meeting Dr Mahathir at the Perdana Leadership Foundation (YKP) in Putrajaya. However, he denied that the meeting had anything to do with speculation about him leaving Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Several media outlets also quoted Redzuan as saying that rumours suggesting he would resign from his ministerial post to support Pakatan Harapan (PH) were entirely untrue.

“If anything, I urge everyone to stand firmly behind PN, led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin, to steer the country out of the current crisis—both in terms of COVID-19 and the economy,” he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

Redzuan also confirmed that he remains under quarantine as part of COVID-19 safety protocols.
